Brothers / sisters,   siblings
a writhing mass of thorny stems,

leaves red tinged and ragged after winter.

With the spring rains we cover ourselves
in our lovely white flowers.

Mid-summer and the smells of our
herbal leaves are carried on the wind
our stems dressed in the bright red fruit
